Noora Elkoussy is a California artist with a diverse background in international disaster relief, global public health, and nutrition. Hailing from a family of artists, Noora is one of the few who did not major in art, but can count art among her professions. In 2013, Noora had brain surgery, which failed to extract a tumor from her optical nerve, leaving her partially blind. As a result, Noora was not able to return to the demands of a jet-setting humanitarian aid career. Art then took center stage as well as textile and fashion design. Now, Noora is represented by Artlifting, an agency dedicated to showcasing the work of disabled individuals to their corporate clients. Noora recently received her MS in Nutrition Education and uses nutrition to heal those with chronic illness.
Acrylics, vibrant and quick-drying, perfectly match my impatient artist's soul. Abstracts in acrylics and watercolors are my medium of choice, embracing the freedom and mystery of the unknown. My hands lead, and my mind follows. Photography, especially street and documentary, is another passion, capturing the pure essence of childhood innocence and soulful spirits.
